After a 7+ year hiatus from a the music scene, 2014 reignited the desire to create. Joey, now being a married man with two wonderful children now had a different texture and grit to life where the level of substance and depth was providing a more genuine & heartfelt approach to songwriting. 

​

Joey Gonzalez is a second generation artist and performer. Music was a staple growing up and provided the soundtrack for an explorative  young life. Influenced by a vast variety of artists such as the magnetic personality of Elvis, arena rock giants Journey & Bon Jovi along with R & B staples such as Sam Cooke and Babyface. Music was about connection and genres did not matter. What was valuable even then was how the music made him feel and if the artist felt genuine.  

Raised by a single mother who herself was an aspiring theatre performer and operatic artist in her youth. Meanwhile Joey’s father had a professional operatic career that spanned 60 years. Music and performing is in his blood.

Following a dream altering injury on the baseball field at age 18, Joey rediscovered his love for music. With his own story and voice to share he learned acoustic guitar and began song writing. 

At age 21 Joey recorded his first studio project as part of a Gospel Rock Band. 2 years later he branched out as a solo artist. With a full length Gospel LP now under his belt, Joey embarked on a multi state tour for almost 2 years. 

During that time he found love, married, expanded his entrepreneurial life style and continued to develop as an artist. 

After a 6 year musical journey, Joey made the decision to pause touring and record making to focus on family life. Music remained a vital part of life through local opportunities and like minded friends where music was still life.

Mismanaging of life and priorities resulted in Joey and his wife separating for most of 2017. During that time period, music played a key role in staying sane and provided an outlet for all the emotion and pain of the season. 

An 8+ month separation with divorce papers on the table turned into a beautiful story of reconciliation and redemption.

During the separation season Joey wrote and recorded continuously. In November 2017 his most personal project to date was release. ‘The Burn’ EP was a collection of songs telling the story of love, failure, faith & lessons learned. The songs immediately connected with fans and ignited a new and more grounded approach to creating.

Joey has released 8 projects since late 2017. Each one building on the past while consistently focusing on three main points
    1.    Love never fails
    2.    Fight for your dreams
    3.    Be present in life

With a musical catalog that expands on a consistent basis, Joey continues to connect with fans with his pop-rock style, passionate melodic vocal delivery and relevant topics. Life is a journey and Joey’s music documents the twist and turns of a one loudly lived.
