'24 Seven Fight'

OUT NOW | 7.10.20

Dealing with the loss of a loved one is life altering to say the least.

'24Seven Fight' is inspired by the real life struggle of close friends who lost their beloved child.

Being a father of two young teenagers, I can not even imagine the gut punching emotions

that arise as you rediscover how to live in a new normal of life without a child.

Wanting to explore the process, this song delves into the process of connecting with close friends who desire to comfort and love you but you just can not feel or break free from the numbness of the pain.

Researching how parents found ways to live and find joy again inspired the tension between the verses and chorus'. The bridge was intentionally left without lyrics to represent the moments of peace and rest, almost life coming up for air after being under water for so long only to return to the struggle and continue to fight for life and love.

In the chorus the is a lyric flow that tied the entire song together.

'61 meters down, swim past my limit. Got to catch my breath and hold on to my love'

While watching a discovery channel classic, I saw that we are not able to free drive beyond the

60 meter limit without air tanks. That fact was what I felt my friends were speaking of.

How they felt they did not have a choice but to just dive deeper and how they did not know how to stay alive in doing so. That contradiction between hopelessness mixed with determination is where I believe love waits for us and becomes our new air to proceed into the unknown.

Life is not always pretty but love always finds a way to keep us moving. If you have lost a child, this song is for you and hopefully lifts your spirit and creates a pause in the process for you.

The Journey Here

‘WHEN WORDS FAIL, MUSIC SPEAKS’
Hans Christian Anderson

Joey Gonzalez is a second generation artist and performer. Music was a staple growing up and provided the soundtrack for an explorative  young life. Influenced by a vast variety of artists such as the magnetic personality of Elvis, arena rock giants Journey & Bon Jovi along with R & B staples such as Sam Cooke and Babyface. Music was about connection and genres did not matter. What was valuable even then was how the music made him feel and if the artist felt genuine.

Raised by a single mother who herself was an aspiring theatre performer and operatic artist in her youth. Meanwhile Joey’s father had a professional operatic career that spanned 60 years. Music and performing is in his blood.

‘DREAMS ARE FREE, THE JOURNEY IS NOT’
John Maxwell

At age 18, Joey rediscovered his love for music. With his own story and voice to share he learned acoustic guitar and began song writing.

At age 21 Joey recorded his first studio project as part of a Gospel Rock Band. 2 years later he branched out as a solo artist.

Married with two amazing kids by age 30 helped root the new batch of songs and helped developed the musical direction Joey walked.
